Meet the maker
My name is Tessa Hofman, the creative owner and artisan behind Mama Milk Fairy. I am a mom of two fantastic little boys who teach me valuable life lessons every day! I live in Vancouver, Canada with my husband and sons.
How to breastfeed
I am obsessed with breast milk and with all the good it can do. I breastfed both of my sons for 15 and 21 months. When our eldest son was born, I just assumed that breastfeeding was something that would come naturally to mom and baby, that it would be easy. Little did I know that it does not always goes as smooth as you had planned during your pregnancy. It was a big revelation for me when our doula told me that being able to breastfeed, does not always come naturally. Breastfeeding is something both baby and mom have to learn.
Ready to give up
By the time we asked our doula and lactation specialist for help, I had already experienced several days of painful breastfeeding moments and was ready to give up. Luckily, she helped me to teach my baby boy how to latch on correctly and she showed me how to take care of myself. That really saved our breastfeeding journey. Even though my first breastfeeding journey was not always easy, I persisted and I am still so proud that I did. My first breastfeeding journey experience made that I had a strong base of knowledge for my second time around. My second breastfeeding journey went smooth and easy, right from the start.
Time to share the knowledge
Now I am very dedicated in sharing my breastfeeding experiences and tips with other new moms, as we all need positive encouragement from time to time. I learned that knowledge is key to breastfeed successfully.
What I like so much about breast milk? Well first of all, it is simply amazing! Breast milk is full of micronutrients, antibodies, enzymes, and antiviral agents, which protects and satisfies a hungry baby until the age of 12 months.
Next to the fact that breast milk is a superfood, it also has many healing properties that can help soothe various types of skin problems like; eczema, diaper rash, dry skin, etc.
Commemorating my breastfeeding journey
When my second breastfeeding journey was coming to an end, I felt the strong need to have something tangible to commemorate this special chapter in my life. Something that I am able to give to my children when they are bigger and something that I can keep myself, to remind me off all that I have achieved. This was the moment I started my new journey; creating unique, precious and high-quality pieces of Keepsake Jewelry.
Every time I now look at my own breastmilk jewelry pieces, I feel proud, strong and heart warmed. A feeling I want to share with my fellow moms.

Know that your precious inclusions are in good hands. I graduated from the Breastmilk and DNA Jewelry Academy, where I learned how to professionally preserve breast milk, how to handle precious inclusions, and how turn them into heirloom pieces of jewelry.
Life outside Mama Milk Fairy
When I am not working on your lovely orders, I enjoy spending time with my family. We especially like to go outdoors for a picnic, hike or to the beach. We also love to go camping in summer and to travel. One of my personal passions is horseback riding. You can find me several days a week at the barn spending time with my horse Jewel (and no, I did not name her, it is purely coincidental!).
I am constantly learning and expanding my knowledge and try to attend trainings and workshops where possible. I enjoy incorporating my new wisdom and crafting techniques into my work.
My mission
It is my mission to help other moms on their breastfeeding journeys and to show them how to use their liquid gold in all its gorgeous entities. Next to creating unique keepsake jewelry, I started the “Breastfeeding Support Group” on Facebook, free for all moms to join and full of breastfeeding information and support.
